The surroundings are unique to those interested in hiking, cycling or paddling, hunting and fishing, or other forms of outdoor activities. Here are opportunities for recreation and relaxation. The noise of the hustle and bustle of civilization is unknown inside the forest and the impulses nature gives all the stronger.
Perhaps history and mystery will be felt on body and soul when you take your time and let impressions and surroundings creep up on you. In the beautiful cultural landscape created in the 1600s by Finnish immigrants, and with the farm's many well-preserved memories of life five or six generations back, a visit here can give perspective to the life we live today. Perhaps the "folklore" on the farm will give impetus to good choices in their own lives? Besides enjoying the view from the farmyard to the blue after the blue of quiet, "rolling" forests, there are good opportunities for cycling, swimming, fishing and canoeing on Lake Øiersjøen or other Finnskog lakes.
The property was cleared in the 1600s by Finns who came from Savolaks via Sweden. The driving force that runs the property today is Paal Øieren, and is the 9th user and 5th freeholder of the Karvainen family. The property is on 50 da cultivated land (grass production) and 2000 then forest.
The barn was in use for its original purpose from 1933 to 1952. In 1997 it was completed as a tourist cabin, with living room, hallway, bedroom, kitchen, toilet, shower and sauna.
