The spectacular and mystic Finnish Forrest right outside your doorstep. The iconic river Glomma, which divides the city of Kongsvinger into two, leads you to the lake Storsjøen - the inland archipelago of Odalen. South of Kongsvinger you find Norways most beautiful golf course at Kongsvinger Golfclub.
In the city you find amongst other things great restaurants, cafès, art galleries, the unique women's museum, the historic fortress and the enchanting old town of Øvrebyen.

Kongsvinger Fortress
Kongsvinger Fortress has a unique history. The fortress was erected in 1681 and has been of a great importance all the way up to 2009. Today you might experience the historic fortress through a museum, a restaurant, and a hotel. The majestic Kongsvinger fortress offers a fantastic panoramic view over the river Glomma. The fortress has never been conquered or seized yet been of an important strategic importance for the defence of Southern Norway.

Magnor Glassworks is a fantastic experience for the whole family, and is also one of Innlandet’s biggest tourist attraction. Explore the history of Kongsvinger city!
The eldest part of Kongsvinger consists of huge officers' quarters and smaller housing for the soldiers fra the 17- and 1800's. The district grew up by Kongsvinger Fortress and were the childhood streets of the painter Erik Werenskiold who grew up here as a son of commander Fredrik Werenskiold in the end of the 1800's.
