Hans Børli has been translated into several languages and has received a number of literary awards. The place Børli was probably cleared in the first half of the 1700s. Around 1865 the square was divided in two, Nestun and Oppistun. All the farms at Nordre Fjellskogen are defunct. Oppistun Børli was vacated after the farmhouse burned down in 1969. Description

Børli is idyllically situated by the lake Store Børen. The place has a great diversity of plants and trees. The flower meadow here is an experience in itself. Sitting on the kitchen stairs and looking out over the landscape is good for both body and soul.
Børli is the starting point for Hans Børli's literary universe. From here he embraces everything from the small details of nature to big politics and existential questions.

The quotes "Don't think I come from small relationships! The sky was always open above me" and "The road to eternity goes over the farmyard" can stand as images of this. A visit to Oppistun Børli helps you understand Hans Børli's poetry better.
